Let’s Define Travel

Travel is essentially the movement of humans between various distant geographical areas. Travel can usually be done by car, bike, foot, train, plane, bus, boat or any other mode, with or without gear, and is one way to get from A to B. With modern travel systems, travel can take many different forms. There are airfare discounts for those who plan ahead, there are cruise bargains for those who want to see a different part of the world, there are ski deals for those who want to ski in foreign countries, and there are many other ways to travel, whether by land, sea or air.

Traveling by air is the most common form of travel today. Airlines provide frequent flyer miles to those who use their services to travel, and there are frequent flier programs through which a ticket can be purchased for very little expense to the traveler. Almost all major cities have a good airport that connects most of the major cities of the world. Air travel is very safe, although there are some types of travel that carry higher risk or are not advisable for those with a medical history of any kind, or who are taking medications that may affect their traveling ability.

Travel within a country, state or region is also referred to as local travel. In the United States, state and local travel is a term that refers to those people who travel between destinations within the state or even across state lines. While there are many differences, there are many similarities in the kinds of things people like to do when they are travelling. Let us collectively define travel as we recognize and understand it.
